Spacing a Cutting Jig for CarboCut

Category: Effetto Mariposa
Posted on Dec 17, 2008 by Steve

The CarboCut blade is roughly twice as thick as some of the popular saw guides (such as the SG-6 Park Tool miter block), meaning that these saw guides will have to be modified to fit the CarboCut. Expanding a cutting jig can be done with spacing washers.

Two washers and a cutting jig

Two 1mm washers will increase the width of the cutting slot, and allow an easy fit for the CarboCut blade.

This image shows the original space in our saw guide before modification.

Saw guide after space modification

Notice the expanded space in our saw guide after we put the washers in to space it out.

Now the CarboCut blade fits fine in the cutting jig

Now the CarboCut fits into our spaced cutting jig just fine.

You can learn about Tungsten Carbide and the Hardness of the CarboCut blade on the CarboCut product page.
