Updated 10 speed chain wear test results include the following chains: Shimano CN 6601, Shimano CN 7801, Shimano CN 7900, Campagnolo Veloce, Campagnolo Record, SRAM PC 1050, SRAM PC 1070, SRAM PC 1090, SRAM PC 1090 R, Point SL 101 Ti, Yaban SL 101 Ti, KMC 10L Silver, KMC 10 Gold, KMC 10SL Gold, Connex 10s0, Connex 10s8, Connex 10sX, and Connex 10s1.
Wippermann commissioned the recently completed tests at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Two prominent German newspapers, "Handelsblatt" and "Wirtschaftswoche", currently rank RWTH Aachen first in Germany in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science.
The leaders of the 10 speed chains are the Connex 10sX, which lasted 114 hours of wear testing, and the hollow pin Connex 10s1, which lasted 99 hours of wear testing. DIN reference length for new chains is 63 links for a length of 800.10 mm. Amount of "stretch" before a chain is considered worn out is 1.0% or 8.00 mm. Total length of a "stretched" chain is 808.10 mm.
