Shelter is the first line of defense against dings and abrasion. The majority of carbon frame failures are due to impacts from stones. Chain slap also creates problems. Shelter is the visco-elastic adhesive strip specifically made to diminish the force of such impacts. 

	Watch How Shelter Works On impact, Shelter deforms, which decreases the force (force=impulse/time). It also distributes the force of the impact over a greater area, thus decreasing the force per square inch. After impact, the Shelter protection tape returns to the normal resting state.
