Safety Wing Gives You More Breathing Room

Passing cars swing wide when you use the Safety Wing. This EU-approved safety device is a folding reflector arm that extends 12" from the bike. When not needed, it folds back and out of the way. The Safety Wing is typically mounted at the end of the chain stay on the left side of the bicycle, but the universal mounting bracket let's you mount it almost anywhere. The seat stay or rack are other popular mounting positions. It weighs only 53 grams.

OK, it's a little nerdy, but who cares? It works! It's so nice to get some extra breathing room when you're commuting on a busy street. You'll watch cars swing wide and then back into the lane as they pass. It's NOT confrontational. It simply says, "Hey, I'm here, please pass with care." ... And they do. Nice.

Helps in daylight too

Helps in daylight too. Drivers seem to grasp that I d really prefer not to be sideswiped.

My husband put one on my bike

My husband put one of these wings on my bike and it really did make a difference on the traffic going around me. One cool thing is that when I passed children they would point and become wide-eyed with jealousy. Great assessory to put on a child s bike! It makes the bike more visible.

Cars give you much more room

Used something similar in Germany

Bought something very similar or the same in Germany 25 years ago. Used it for a long time until I lost it. Really works! Cars give you more space.

An incredibly good, simple, durable long proven safety device. The cyclists above are right. Car traffic really avoids me more, noticeably different from its normal homicidal behavior versus bicyclists. The good old Safety Wing from www.Herrmans.eu, especially a pair left and right, automatically registers more of the true width of your bike to the car driver brain. Car eyes mostly focus down on the road surface, so your bike initially looks like a bike tire, only 2 inch / 4 cm wide. The Wing makes you a serious vehicle to most drivers. The functional, easy to use, no-battery design just works as advertised. When in Europe I always use them, but they are inexplicably hard to find in the U.S.. It took deep search skills to find Herrmans and CantitoeRoad via the Walmart site. Be aware Walmart makes them hard to find, even when you use their code CRSWING, partly by misspelling Herrmans ( they sometimes wrongly say Hermanns ). This device has helped make my family safe for years, and probably even saved my life.

Begginer

Have to give this little orange lollipop 5 stars as it was everything I dreamed it would be. I hear you get extra points if you pass someone while this wing is deployed. One thing I would mention in that the install is a little more complicated than you would expect. That's because this thing has two degrees of freedom and can fit multiple tube diameters. If you purchase, enjoy!
